Latest News Update about DOLE Akap
According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), some 130,000 more overseas Filipino workers (OFW) affected by the pandemic will soon get their much-awaited financial assistance from the government.
In a news conference on Thursday, Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma said the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) was able to secure additional funding for their Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong Program (AKAP).
This is good news for many OFWs who have been struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. The financial assistance will go a long way in helping them tide over this difficult period.
President Bongbong Marcos heard the complaints about the pending claims for the Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program, which provides financial assistance to OFWs in times of need. With the release of additional funding from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the distribution of cash aid to qualified beneficiaries started last Thursday.
According to Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez, they are no longer entertaining new applicants for the AKAP program. This is because the additional funding will only be used for those who have already applied for the program but were not able to receive the financial aid due to budgetary constraints.
It’s great to see that the government is finally taking action on the Akap cash aid program. With so many OFWs and their families depending on this financial assistance, it’s vital that the government makes sure that they are taken care of.
I’m glad to see that the additional funding will be used to help those who have already applied for the program but have not yet received any aid. I hope that this will help to ease the financial burden on OFWs and their families and make their lives a little bit easier.
So if you or someone you know is an OFW who is in need of financial assistance, make sure to check if you are qualified for the AKAP program. Let’s help each other out in these trying times!
