What is a Teacher’s Aide?
A Teacher’s Aide is also called a teacher’s assistant or assistant teacher. The teacher aide basically assists the full-time teachers in the classroom with lesson planning, materials requisitions, equipment set-up, and assisting students.
Unlike teachers, teacher’s aides are not always required to have a bachelor’s degree and a professional license in teaching. They often receive the bulk of their training on-the-job or by observing and getting instructions from the classroom teacher. A high school diploma may be enough to get a job as a teacher’s aide in some schools, but most earn at least an associate’s degree.
What are the tasks of a Teacher’s Aide?
The duties of the teacher’s aide or teaching assistant can be both clerical and instructional.
A Teacher Aide may be responsible for the preparation of the classroom and educational materials, care and supervision of the students, supporting students with additional learning needs, among many others.
- performing clerical duties like taking attendance
- grading tests and homework
- helps monitor students’ behavior in and out of the classroom or school
- provide additional instructional assistance to students with special needs
- assists students who need extra help in completing class activities
Many Filipinos in Dubai are working as Teacher’s Aide. Some of them are the wives of Filipino employees in the United Arab Emirates, who have been petitioned or brought to Dubai with their families.
You may not earn as much as a Teacher does, but it’s still a noble profession and it’s fulfilling to be a Teacher’s Aide. Not only can you make a difference in your students’ lives but also to the teachers whom you assist.
If you want to give this job a shot, go ahead and apply now. Good luck!
